I mean, wow. At some points I was laughing to the point of tears. From the first page/chapter I was pulled in. The start is comical showing us what the two main characters relationship from the start was. Mia and Joseph have to be my favorite characters with the dark Dmitri coming coming close. (Hope I spelled his name right.) This is an excellent book to read. ;)</span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><div dir="ltr" style="margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt; text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The Review:</span></div>
<span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">First off if you loved Sweet, Decadent Fire or Eternal Breath of Darkness then you will love this one even more. Joseph is the the man that needs to be taught a lesson with his facebook hacking skills that we get to see his facebook hacking skills. The jokes would always pop up randomly and it wasn’t too often that it got old. [Just the right amount] We get to see how Mia learns of her true self and how she reacts to Joseph. </span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">There really wasn’t one main conflict in this novel, more like multiple small ones. With Eli, Mia’s ‘mate’, crazy vampires, and demons gone mad, we get the experience of WHOOSH IN YOUR FACE. Face paced and plenty of sexy demons, this is a book you need to read if you love this genre.</span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Smashwords:</span><a href="http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/205753"><span style="background-color: transparent; color: #1155cc; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/205753</span></a><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Goodreads: </span><a href="http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/15764098-exquisite-breath-of-darkness"><span style="background-color: transparent; color: #1155cc; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/15764098-exquisite-breath-of-darkness</span></a><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Amazon: </span><a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008M8ELR0?ie=UTF8&tag=httpwwwgoodco-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B008M8ELR0&SubscriptionId=1MGPYB6YW3HWK55XCGG2"><span style="background-color: transparent; color: #1155cc; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008M8ELR0?ie=UTF8&tag=httpwwwgoodco-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B008M8ELR0&SubscriptionId=1MGPYB6YW3HWK55XCGG2</span></a></b>Laura_darkelvengirlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05119089332509512531noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2813416444015034097.post-67820271850097886372012-07-23T20:00:00.000-08:002012-07-23T20:00:03.906-08:00Claudy Conn’s Shadow Series Blog Tour and Giveaway<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Her name is Nikki Walker, and she is a vampire slayer. She never thought she would have to use her slayer powers…but she does.<br />She is on the trail of an ancient and secretive vampire called Deadly Moon, and Nikki wants to destroy her. She has her reasons.<br />His name is Damon Drummond who some of you have met before, and already know that he is a hunk of an unusual vampire. He is bent on keeping Nikki away from Deadly Moon.<br />The sociopath vampire, WB, who had been Pentim Rawley’s right hand man has taken over the Pentim clan, and is turning out to be even more of a problem than his predecessor had been. In fact, if someone doesn’t do something soon…Dublin will go dark under his power, and other cities will follow.<br />Damon and Nikki are on opposite sides. He is a potent vampire--she is a skilled and powerful vampire slayer. Problem right there…but, when they look at each other, <nobr>sparks</nobr> of all kinds fly. Too much stands between them. He will live forever…she will not…and yet… </span></div>

Title: Rogues, Rakes & Jewels<br />
Author: Claudy Conn<br />
Page count: 224<br />
Genre: romance<br />
My rating: 5/5<br />
Publisher: Amazon Digital Services, Inc.<br />
Published: 2012<br />
Summary:The Marquis of Lyndhurst is tired of women who are more attracted to his title and money than to his charms. So when his mother requests that he go to the Isle of Wight to court another eligible woman, Ryker decides on a little game … his cousin Robby will pose as him, and he will pose as his cousin—a rake and a gambler. If the woman falls in love with him, it will be for himself. Only then will he reveal who he is.<br />
What the marquis doesn’t expect, however, is someone like Jewelene. Lovely and provocative, intelligent and headstrong, Jewels cares not for status and wealth. Ryker finds her irresistible, and she finds herself falling for the handsome man she believes to be the marquis’ cousin.<br />
But Jewelene is playing a game of her own. In a daring bid to repay her family’s debts, each night she poses as Babette, the French card dealer. When Ryker begins flirting with the sultry Babette, Jewelene realizes she has become her own rival. If she reveals the truth, will her house of cards come tumbling down?<br />
<br />
The Review:<br />
So I purchased this book from amazon, and on the kindle parents are how you know how far in you are. Rogues, Rakes & Jewels ends around 60%, so this really is a quick read to pick up late one night. From the first sentence of this novel I was pulled in, and I hope you will too.<br />
Once again Claudy Conn gives us a romance of two characters that are complete opposites. Jewelene is the strong female character in this story. Her characters as quick, witty, and genius. Ready to ruin her image she earns money to help her family get through their tough spot. We have the Marquis of Lyndhurst, Ryker, who deceives most of the characters throughout the book because he wants to find ‘true love’. Both character had their faults, but together they pulled through to create a happy ending.<br />
Then we finally have the bad guy, who I declare, cannot be named. He was one that would make you wince at his tactics, and shout when he was forced back by Ryker.<br />
A sizzling romance that will leave you satisfied can be found on amazon and smashwords. Be sure to check it out and if you like it leave a review.<br />

Adams is constantly in a state of change when he receives the gift of “Seer”. His life takes on a whole new meaning out in the forest.</span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">My thoughts:</span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">I love how you can read these books out of order. It makes it much easier when you have random books. I do like the writing style of the book and Adam’s story was a awesome read. His personality was bright and he looked up even when things were going down. That made it easy to connect with the character and LOVE him.</span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The Review:</span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The setting; Werewolf Bound mainly stays in one location throughout the story, and only switches location near the end. Keeping it in one location made is less confusing to read and being a shorter read that is important.</span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The characters: Adam - A cheery person, we finally get to see what he was like from the little we saw him in the other books. It was also nice seeing more of him and understanding him better. Blake- The character who sends off mixed vibes and sent me from hating him one moment to loving him the next. He drove me nuts. </span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">So the way she throughs characters together in the werewolf concept make it unique and to my liking. The way that wolves treat females is enough to want them to all die. (I’m nice) </span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Will I read the others? <b style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS';"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span></span><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"> Myriah is the female main character of this story. She, like other females in the time, puts up with the views of females in this time. Her fiery character was enough to pull me in and her loyal sidekick Tabson made quite a pair. We have Kit. The male character of the story with his dark, or not so dark secret. Together the characters create a drama worth reading. Kit doesn’t quite trust her for most of the book and Myriah just tries to do what’s right. </span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">One of the things about reading historical books is the details used for description and placing things. Details like that are good for history nuts and freaks, like I. (Not a complete history buff.) </span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The story is a charming romance that makes you want everything to work out. It was a excellent way to add a twist to the story.</span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">What I’m saying basically is to go get a copy and check it out. <span style="background-color: white; text-align: -webkit-auto;">Sometimes choosing between love and family means choosing between life and death.</span></div>
</span><span style="color: #181818; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Aston Smith, Knight of Fridel, has been sent on a dangerous mission: catch The Rogue Royal, a notorious man who has been killing corrupt monarchs. When the mission goes wrong, the knight is sentenced to death. To escape his fate, he runs, planning to track down the murderer and clear his name.</span><br /><span style="color: #181818; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Along the way, he meets and teams up with Jade du Halen, who he thinks is just another woman. Instead, she convinces Aston that she can clear his name, joining him on his hunt for justice.</span><br /><span style="color: #181818; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Can these two individuals hide from their hunters, catch The Rogue Royal, and live happily ever after? <div dir="ltr" style="font-size: medium; font-weight: bold; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt; text-align: center; white-space: normal;">
<span style="color: #333333; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Excerpt One</span></div>
<span style="color: #333333; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Aston leaned over the wall. Talbot was two thirds of the way up, moving sluggishly, struggling to find his footing. “Prince Talbot! I’m going ahead. Stay close, and hurry! We don’t know how far ahead of us the Rogue is,” he shouted, knowing no one was around to hear him. He ran along the walkway until he got to a set of stairs, taking them three at a time to get into the palace. He heard the prince clomping along behind him. </span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">All the torches were snuffed out in the hallway he entered. Aston stopped and listened, trying to locate someone, but he couldn’t hear anything. It was late, but there should have been guards patrolling every inch of the palace. The duke’s life had been threatened. </span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">He could feel his throat constricting as he crept close to the wall and started down the hallway, more alert now than he had been before. This wasn’t his first mission, but it was the first time he’d been ordered to save a man’s life. Normally, he was sent to battles or as a messenger. This mission had a completely different feel, and something deep inside told him he was already too late.</span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The wide corridor forked off in two directions at the end. The left side was dark, the right lit. Aston headed left, knowing The Rogue Royal would be somewhere in the darkened corridors. He paused at the end of the second hallway, listening again. Something rammed into his back and he turned quickly, pulling a dagger from his belt and crouching down.</span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><div style="text-align: center;">

Apollo, the god of truth, goes from a glorious existence as The Shining One to a victim of Zeus’ wrath, and his journey makes him question his godhood, his role in the cosmos, and his views on humanity. Prophecy and the Fates direct his course, and he must make difficult, yet vital, choices. Millennia pass, and Dan, Aleta, Brandon, and Sarah—four reluctant modern-day heroes gifted by ancient civilizations born of the gods—bound by prophecy, have to choose whether or not to save their world when it could mean they never existed. They must master their new powers while battling against incomprehensible forces from the Underworld and repairing the Sacred Scales, destroyed long ago. With the equilibrium between Order and Chaos unhinged, and the Olympian gods struggling to exist, these four must ally themselves with the United Nations to protect an endangered world, becoming the only group who can fight against metaphysical threats to the Earth, forging Task Force: Gaea. Can mortals succeed where gods cannot go?</span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span></b><br />

At the first it was a little confusing reading from his point since it was more describing then showing. Instead of seeing much of the surrounding we saw and heard what Apollo saw and thought. This was a good set up to get the reader into the story and wonder how balance will be found again. And it ends just on the point of driving the reader mad.</span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The second part: We’re introduced to the characters of the prophecy. This is when it stops being descriptive and we see the characters and their thought patterns more.Each character acquires a gift or a certain power in some way. Their stories behind them were what i found most fascinating about the books. Each individual character was given a good in depth personality and we see apollo from a different point of view.</span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The book like all book would drag at points, but isn’t that normal? Well it didn't drag very much since it was smoothly pushed into another scene or event or action/fight. SOme scenes would end rather abrupt and it felt like they had lost some of their meaning.</span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Overall it was a good read and the artwork at the end was a surprise. </span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Where to find a copy; </span><a href="https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/132593#longdescr"><span style="background-color: transparent; color: #1155cc; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/132593#longdescr</span></a></b>Laura_darkelvengirlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05119089332509512531noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2813416444015034097.post-29082670475912586172012-06-28T13:26:00.000-08:002012-06-28T13:45:23.647-08:00<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Her own mother had arranged a marriage for her to a man she had never even met. She had no choice but to run away.</span><br /><span style="color: #181818; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Sky Westbrooke had no wish to marry, but his mischievous siblings sorely needed a firm maternal hand. Yet, how could he court his unseen bride, when into his employ had come the most remarkable, enchanting governess?</span><br /><span style="color: #181818; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">And Cherry, playing at being a governess was smitten by the handsome, cavalier Lord Westbrooke. His stolen kisses left her breathless—yet, he was betrothed to another. Whatever was a love struck governess to do?</span><a href="http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13497994-oh-cherry-ripe#"><span style="color: #215625; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">(</span></a><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">My Thoughts: I needed a quick easy read the other night and Oh Cherry Ripe was in my “Need Read” File on the kindle. I’ve been needing to read this for a while, but got distracted like most book reviewers do.... Dang this was awesome! I couldn't put it down and stayed up through the night to finish it.</span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The Review: The characters were amazing and the chance of them meeting like this and falling in love was almost a fairy tale ending and set up. Cherry (Cheryl) was the female character of Oh Cherry Ripe, she disagreed with the way women were viewed in london during this time period. Sky is the man who needed compassion from the starts. Together the two characters create a bang that shake their universe. Claudy Conn threads another love story in ways that make it fun to read.</span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The children were another important factor in all this. Francine and Felix were the wins, the children that made Cherry want to stay. Freddy is the simple character with some baggage and comical tendencies that reminded me of younger James, once he was introduced. Sadly, Mary was not in the story, so I will have to imagine what she is like. </span></b>Laura_darkelvengirlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05119089332509512531noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2813416444015034097.post-82999865602694170472012-06-26T20:33:00.001-08:002012-06-26T20:33:43.524-08:00Jami Montgomery Interview<div style="text-align: left;">

I learned to read at a really young age because my sister was in kindergarten and learning, so I learned with her. But “See Spot Run” and “Sam chases Jane” were so pointless to me because I was already at a higher reading level when I got into school, so I started making up my own stories. From there it just blossomed until I was devouring every book I could find and writing my own. </span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="color: magenta; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">2)<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Why did you go with self publishing your book?</span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Historical fiction is a very tight niche. It’s not one of those genres that is constantly gaining new fans, but rather one that has the same group of people that read the books. I mean, they get new fans sometimes, sure. But not like paranormal or young adult does. Right when I finished writing Knight’s End, I jumped into writing Nineteen. And when I finished Nineteen, I started to query with it. It’s really hard to be someone with no writing credit trying to publish a book traditionally. It’s nothing on you, really. It all depends on the agents, the publishers. They get to decide whether your story is good enough or not. </span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">After months of trying (and failing) to find and agent for Nineteen, I started working on Knight’s End again, editing it as much as I could, changing some of the story up and just generally making it “read worthy.” Then I found a good self-publishing site and worked with a cover maker (who is also my best friend) to get a cover I could use and voila! Knight’s End was published. </span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="color: magenta; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">3)<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Who were/are the people that helped you the most with your writing?</span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">I honestly believe that the people I met and befriended on inkpop helped my writing immensely. They were never afraid to be harsh, but their harsh reviews helped me so much. I grew a lot while on that site. I wrote the beginning of Knight’s End four different times before finding one that really fit my book, and it’s all because of reviews I got on inkpop. And now, the friends I’ve made there keep me writing and don’t let me give up. They encourage me and help me still. I wouldn’t be anyone without them.</span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; color: magenta; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">4)<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Which one of your characters did you find the funnest to write? Did you find any of them hard to write?</span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">In Knight’s End, I absolutely love Ernst. He’s not a huge part of the first book, but he’s big later. I just love everything about him. He’s proud but not arrogant, funny (though that’s hard to see in the first book) and just cares about his family more than anything. I feel like he’s one of those characters that you really have to think about to understand, and no one will ever know him as well as I do. </span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Hard to write? Probably Aston or Richie. Richie plays a huge role in later books too, though he’s a side character in Knight’s End. He’s a young boy working in the palace, and you don’t get to see him much. It’s hard to write from the perspective of someone so young. And Aston because I knew things about him that readers don’t know until the end of the book, and it was hard for me to get him right while thinking about later pieces of the story. But I think he turned out pretty well. </span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; color: magenta; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">5)<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>What are challenges you faced while writing?</span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">I think my biggest challenge writing Knight’s End was getting the time period right. I mean, the research is the hardest part of historical writing. You have to use the right words to describe things (like breeches instead of pants of jeans, and blouse or tunic instead of shirts) and the dialogue has to be a bit tighter. But that’s what makes it believable in the end, so I can’t really complain. </span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="color: magenta; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">6)<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Who would you consider your writing mentor?</span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">My writing mentor would have to be Sherrilyn Kenyon. Her story is so amazing, and she overcame so much to get where she is. She’s a true icon of the “dreams come true” slogan, and I absolutely love her writing. I love that she never gave up and she got where she needed to be, and I love to think that someday I’ll be able to do the same and inspire other people to go for their dreams and not give up. </span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; color: magenta; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">7)<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Outlines – they are a thing many authors use, but there are many that don’t use them. Do you use outlines while you write?</span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">I actually don’t use outlines. I always have a clear picture in my head of how the book will end, but from beginning to end I really don’t have any clue what will happen. I let the characters surprise me and see where they take me. </span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="color: magenta; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">8) Do you experience writer’s block? How do you handle it?</span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">I think every writer experiences writer’s block at some point in their careers. I usually work on something different for a while if my current project isn’t cooperating. I started writing Knight’s End two years ago, got stuck on it, wrote another book, and then came back to KE. The entire storyline changed when I came back to it, and it worked out for the better. While writing Nineteen, I started a lot of side projects. I now have about twenty seven books started on my computer. Whenever I get stuck, I go to one of those for a while. </span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="color: magenta; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">9)<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>What are you currently working on?</span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Right now I am writing a ghost story called Otherworldly. It’s about a boy named Robbie who died and ends up in a place called Otherworld and his girlfriend, Johanna, who he leaves behind when he dies. One day, Robbie wakes up and gets pulled out of Otherworld and back to Earth…as a ghost. Something happens that makes him momentarily human, and Johanna sees him. Thus their adventure starts. There’s a secret, deadly organization, murder, ghosts, and lots more in this book, and I am really excited about it. Maybe I’ll post a preview on my author page soon to get some thoughts. It’s really different from anything I’ve written before, so we’ll see how it goes. </span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="color: magenta; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">10)<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Which paranormal creature would you least like and most like to become?</span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="color: #333333; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">I don’t think I would want to be a vampire. They’ve become so clichéd and overdone. And I really don’t like werewolves, so definitely neither of those. Most like to become? Probably one of Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunters. I mean, the way they come into being totally sucks, but once you’re there… I think it would be cool.</span></b></div>

Title: Eternal Breath of Darkness<br />
Author: Candice Stauffer<br />
Page count:<br />
Genre: romance<br />
My rating: 4/5<br />
Publisher:<br />
Published: september 30, 2011<br />
Summary:Will Caylee’s salvation come from the solitude of the cold, dark grave or from the the sinful delights of surrendering her body and soul to the seduction of a wickedly sexy, dark and dangerous powerful immortal?<br />
<br />
From the beginning of time, Haden’s kind has to stop the deadliest forces of darkness from destroying mankind. He has never feared defeat until now. He would sacrifice anyting, even his life to protect Caylee. But despite possessing the dragon’s fierce nature and power, there’s little hope he’ll save her from a lust-crazed vampire that a rogue demon is aiding. Instead of completing the ancient ritual that’ll give his eternal breath to her and bind their souls together for eternity, will Haden be forced to kill Caylee to prevent her from suffering a never-ending thirst for blood?<br />
<br />
My Thoughts: The first part of the book is setting up of the characters, the plot, the everything. It was a slow start but.... Once everything was set up the story really started. After 40% I was forced to keep reading because it drew me in. The characters that cracked me up were Joesph and Mia. They were genois creations.<br />
<br />
The Review: First off the characters. Haden was a little over protective at the start, but by the end he was much easier to understand. Caylee was very very very fun to see how she progressed. From silent scared women that can't speak up, too loud giggly person. Yeah she was one of those characters you needed her to get help on the issues. Then the way she pushed in the other couples, that was a good add in, and it didn't take over the book since the main couple were Haden and Caylee.<br />
The setting: I wasn't to vastly to keep up with. Whoooo! Then when a new place was entered it was easy to get into the area and know what was happening and where<br />Laura_darkelvengirlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05119089332509512531noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2813416444015034097.post-33796541726067599072012-06-23T08:58:00.002-08:002012-06-23T08:58:45.228-08:00Shadows<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Whilst dreams can come true, so can nightmares. One bright light stands between him and the shadows; Artheiwyn, warrior-scout of a long vanished people. Whilst admired by some she is shunned by others; for no female should learn the magic of the Wind Elves.</span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">My Thoughts: So shadows went really slow for the first 400 pages or so.. It was a good slow though because the characters and plot needed to be set up. If you loved the Eragon books then you’ll love this. I found Shadows a good read. Thanks Emma Miles for letting me read this. :)</span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The Review: Lot’s and lot’s of characters, some leave while other stay and join.Tobias of course is one of the main characters of course.He is a little behind to the other characters since he never lived this lifestyle behind locked up in a city. In the end he starts becoming a strong character who I await to see mature even more. </span><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Artheiwyn she was one of my favorite characters in the book. She is the female that stands out and fights among her people. I love that even as most people disagree with her choice she fights and stands up for her choice. Ellenion well he is the prince. The Character you really wouldn't think had anything useful about him. In the end my thoughts were higher about him than what I thought they’d be. Then the dragons who doesn’t like dragons?</span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The setting: Well they were everywhere, never staying in one place for too long. Keeping the scenery fresh and new. The changes of setting was one of the things I liked the most about this book.I believe this helped the characters develop and become easier to understand and accept.</span></b>Laura_darkelvengirlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05119089332509512531noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2813416444015034097.post-84975664324749558772012-06-20T08:11:00.001-08:002012-06-20T08:11:14.577-08:00<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The story has added to the shock factor. Now not only vampires and witches are in the plot, but ghost, demon children, and a certain dark figure. I never saw that coming and I was freaking shocked! We get to continue with all of the other characters from the first and second book, new, old, young. All are easily likable.</span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">So the story takes place in similar places not going around to many, so that is easy to remember. Nothing hard to remember and not too much jumping around.</span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Now I love how the book starts off right where it ended in the previous.</span><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">I love how </span><span style="color: #181818; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"> Chloe becomes a family member in such a short period of time. :)</span></b><br />Laura_darkelvengirlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05119089332509512531noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2813416444015034097.post-19235265910701831082012-06-15T14:52:00.003-08:002012-06-15T14:52:38.598-08:00Savage To Savvy<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The Professor’s son, Rudi, is Project Manager of the Laurels where Nicki and other children with ‘multiple deficits’ reside. </span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Heidi is soon asking questions about Nicki’s previous feral existence. Her suspicions are further aroused at the Professor’s soirée one evening by a drunken outburst from Rob Ivory – ex employee of the Professor who claims he sabotaged the experiment and taught Nicki language. On the same evening, she also discovers some disused laboratories behind the Professor’s house. Heidi goes digging further, and finds Nicki was part of a Forbidden Experiment. Heidi’s mission soon takes on sinister overtones and as the truth outs, the lives of all concerned begin to unravel.</span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Savage To Savvy is a psychological thriller following the structure of an academic paper: Abstract, Introduction, Method & Results, Discussion, Conclusions.</span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The Review;</span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">So first off the book does start out slowly, as it was being set up for the first 20% mainly. I do admit I wasn’t pulled into the story until all the explaining stuff was mainly done. If she hadn't set the book up though then the images wouldn't have been so clear. Some characters are set up to appear mean and cruel while others get their evil later on in the story.</span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The twist and turns that happen through the story are not what you are going to expect. Why did Nicki grow up the way she did? Was the question that came to mind the most while reading this. By the end I was annoyed or mad at </span><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; font-style: italic; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">most</span><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"> of the characters. Only Heidi and Nicki remained on my more preferred side. </span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Next the ending. You will not see it coming, I swear. What I thought would happen was far off because I couldn’t believe what happened. It was abrupt at points, but that is what gave it the feeling of how it was supposed to. “following the structure of an academic paper: Abstract, Introduction, Method & Results, Discussion, Conclusions.” I love how it was different from the regular styles I normally read, it was easy to understand and not over my head.</span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Well for a book in a genre I normally don’t read as much. It turned out that I liked it enough for four stars. <span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I was 25 years old before I figured out what I wanted to be when I grow up. I am not sure why it took me so long to take my love for writing seriously. After all, I have been at it for as long as I can remember. I remember the day I received my first journal and how great it felt to have someone finally understand me! I have a desk full of binders and folders packed with the beginnings of stories, ideas and tidbits. Writing is who I am. I guess the idea of doing what you love was a foreign concept</span><br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
<div style="text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Dawn sat up straight and looked around. She knew she was no longer alone. Then she saw him, standing with his back to her in the moonlight that shone through a gaping hole in the trees. Dawn was startled but still not afraid. The wind began to rustle through the trees, causing a beautiful cloud of pastel leaves and petals to float about her. The leaves fell so thick that Dawn could no longer see the man. She became mesmerized by the falling petals; never in her life had she had the privilege to witness a scene this strikingly beautiful. She forgot the man, she forgot how to fear. Dawn stood perfectly still in the gentle storm of leaves that rained down around her. The wind died down and the last of the leaves began to silently fall to the ground, like snow on Christmas. The forest bed had been covered in a thick blanket of fallen petals. One brushed her cheek and another landed on her bare shoulder. Without looking, she brushed it off and began to wonder whether the man she saw was real or if she had still been dreaming. She took a step back and lost her footing on a root of the apple tree. In that instant, a hand reached out from behind and saved her from her fall. She spun around, nearly falling again, holding fast to the hand that saved her. Dawn found herself staring into darkness. She could barely make out a silhouette of a face in the shadow of the tree. Dawn took little steps back, and the man who held her hand took those same steps forward. As his face came out of the shadows, Dawn held her breath.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">A more handsome face she had never seen. He was a good bit taller than her. His hair was long and dreadlocked, and his skin was brown like sugar. But it was his eyes that caught her attention: his dark coal eyes. The two stood there, staring into each other’s eyes, not saying a word. Dawn didn’t know what to say, and it seemed that her mysterious man didn’t either. So there they stood in silence, holding hands.</span></div>

Although she was strong in her faith, her future looked grim. She found her blessings to be painfully short and too few in between. Until one day, a beautiful baby boy, Josiah, miraculously came into her world. Just when Dawn felt her troubles had vanished, she found herself the victim of a brutal murder. With Josiah cradled in her arms, she embarked on an adventure through the realm between Heaven and Hell. Along the way she finds friends, love, and the truth about religion and faith.</span></span></div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 19px;">The Review: So this story could be suitable for people for ages 12 and up. Truthfully it could have a younger crowd if the could stand a little violence. The characters were easy enough to like and Dawn was only in denile for a little while. That itself made the book easier and more interesting to read. If she had just excepted that she was dead then it would have been little unbelievable. </span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 19px;">The take she took on angels, demons, and everything in between was.... interesting. Twisting around who she made us believe were the bad guys turn into the a little better guys. (Go with it.) Still the ending was something I was not expecting. It left me going </span><i style="line-height: 19px;">What! </i><span style="line-height: 19px;">and no way. A good cliff hanger was the idea. Now it leaves me wanting more.</span></span></div>

<b style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Summary: </span><span style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Dorienne Nielsen has no clear vision of her own future…until an object rockets from the sky and slams to earth behind the county fair barn. The mercenary extraterrestrials, Den and Zeeto, want a scrounger. Dorienne’s smart mouth and voracious appetite for information fills the niche. Utilizing an illegal cybernetic augmentation, Dorienne dives head-first into information scrounging while dodging pirates, other mercenaries and political zealots. Tricky interstellar politics and the stigmas of being human in a non-human vacuum test her at every turn.</span><br /><span style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span></b><br />

<b id="internal-source-marker_0.3384183254092932" style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Soooo. What to say, what to tell you, what I thought about this book. Well first off I had to sleep on this review to make sure I thought of everything needed to say about the book. Simple - I loved the book. Now here’s a more in depth reason.</span><br /><span style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><div dir="ltr" style="margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt; text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The characters;</span></div>
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">So we had Dorienne, the human in the group that always knew something else was out there. Our head character and female surrounded by gawking men. (I believe she handled them well.) We had Noa the bodyguard. He believed that he must remain noble and not kiss the people he works with. The whole book I was yelling “Kiss her! Kiss her like you mean it!” Then we had Den and Zeeto, the people who pull Dorienne into all this mess. They were the more easy going characters that could generate a laugh at points. Finally to sum up the main main characters; Eleksi. He is the cranky one at first site. (Note I said first.) I started out disliking him, but by the end he had grown on me. He was the more strict growly person. </span><br /><span style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><div dir="ltr" style="margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt; text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The settings;</span></div>
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">So this story takes place in a lot of different places. They’re in space so I hoped that it would be in more than one place. Of course this is a important part of writing a space story. Why stay in one place when you have the universe to explore. Well we see lot’s of places.</span><br /><span style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><div dir="ltr" style="margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.sitevip.net/gifs/alien/1546_animado.gif" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://www.sitevip.net/gifs/alien/1546_animado.gif" /></a><span style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The main part of the book;</span></div>
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Empty Space had lot’s of problems. When I say lots I mean a large amount of kick butt fights. With action, guns, dragon animal fighting, and well a lot more. The book really doesn’t go around one specific problem, but more like multiple ones. I personally like how </span><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Suzanne Dome set all this up. The fights were all well written making it easier to “see” the action. </span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Where to find the book; </span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Amazon; </span><a href="http://www.amazon.com/Empty-Space-Suzanne-Dome/dp/147512399X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1337990221&sr=1-1"><span style="color: #1155cc; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Empty Space link (CLICK)</span></a><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Facebook page; </span><a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Empty-Space/319874748040537"><span style="color: #1155cc; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Another Link</span></a></b>Laura_darkelvengirlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05119089332509512531noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2813416444015034097.post-58760295072313179342012-05-25T12:27:00.002-08:002012-05-25T12:27:44.179-08:00The Legend of Michael<a href="http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1301936706l/9608960.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1301936706l/9608960.jpg" width="194" /></a><b id="internal-source-marker_0.6582671504002064" style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Title: The Legend of Michael (Zodius #1)</span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Author: Lisa Renee Jones</span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Page count: 382</span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Genre: Paranormal Romance, </span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">My rating: 3.5/5</span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Publisher: </span><span style="background-color: white; color: #555555; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"> Sourcebooks Casablanca</span><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Published:</span><span style="background-color: white; color: #555555; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">May 1st 2011</span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Summary: </span><span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">HE IS A LETHAL WEAPON… </span><br /><span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">One of an army of human soldiers injected with alien DNA, Michael is a legend within this new race, split between good and evil. Of course later we learned there was more to it, but at that moment I couldn't stand it. Some points the non main characters had more soul and personality then the main character. Adam and Ava (eve. ava. eve. ava. O_O) had more soul because the evilness of them reeked right off the pages. Then there was Caleb the guy forced into this because of Adam. Brock and Powell are incredibly stupid choosing sides they think will win. Money and power was their character.</span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Then the story line was enough to pull me in and keep me reading, to see how it ended. Now, after rescuing a wounded stranger, she’s landed in the middle of a battle between corrupt vampires and powerful immortals who also need blood to survive. Roland Warbrook is the most compelling man Sarah has ever laid hands on. But his desire for her is mingled with a hunger he can barely control…</span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">In his nine centuries of immortal existence, no woman has tempted Roland as much as Sarah. But asking her to love him is impossible—when it means forfeiting the world she’s always known, and the life he would do anything to protect…</span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">My Thoughts</span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">So our two characters Sarah the person pulled into a mess by an accident and Roland the warrior fighting against the bad guys. Together they have a burning passion forming between them from the moment they meet.Even when they try to ignore it.Alone both can stand on their own, normally in books like this the characters need to be together to fit perfectly.</span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The Review</span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Darkness Dawns had the main problem, the side problem, and the fights in between reaching the climax. Sarah and Roland’s problem with the vampires and then there was Seth’s problem with the mystery woman. With that we get the vibe that immortals have no luck. With the british bad guy Bastien, lost in his way or just plain evil, we don’t know for most parts of the book. At least until he ends up doing stuff in the present and past to make the immortals hate him.</span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The story is easy enough to fall in love with. Characters with comical personalities, and a plot leaving you wanting more.</span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Would I read the second book? Plus a summary can only so much about the book. </span><br /><span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">At some points you will be pulling your hair yelling for a couple certain characters to stop being jerks. It doesn’t leave you wondering like the first two, no cliffhangers here, but a happy ending, or as happy as they could be. I never saw this ending coming, but it was amazing and well s-h-o-c-k-i-n-g! Now enough about the ending. Rachel and Holly just have no luck what so ever. Being led from one kidnapping to another you keep wondering when something good will happen to them. Then we have our knights with issues; far from innocent, far from understanding women. </span><br /><span style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; font-weight: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">So then we’re introduced to Josiah, Elias, and Andrew. The saviors (?) and killer of the hated leader Alexander. In all chances the girls bad luck strikes again. On the bright side they’re nicer than Alexander. Now you want to know what’s so big about these people? Read the books and figure it out silly! </span><br /><span style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; font-weight: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Then with this ending it leaves you wondering what the next book will be about. With no cliffhanger we get left wondering, and hoping. Will we be meeting new characters, or will they be the same ones. She has entered the war against Gais and the Dark Fae and means to take him on all by herself. She is driven.</span><br /><span style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; font-weight: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Aaibhe, Queen of the Seelie has other plans, and she sends in Prince Danté to execute and preserve her wishes. Z and the prince meet and hackles go up on both sides. Oooh…no, they don’t like each other one bit. They bang heads at every turn, and those turns become a whirlwind of emotions and feisty Z, well, her attitude is ‘bring it.’ </span><br /><span style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; font-weight: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br class="kix-line-break" />My thoughts: </span><br /><span style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; font-weight: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Both characters are easy to fall in love with. Z with her easy going noble personality and Dante the prince who has the patience of a saint. I can say these characters were comical to read about at certain points. The story will leave you hair pulling/tugging and nerve wracked by the end. And finally THE battle starts,</span><span style="background-color: white; color: #9900ff; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; font-weight: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"> THE BATTLE! </span><br /><span style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; font-weight: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><br /><span style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; font-weight: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The Review:</span><br /><span style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; font-weight: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">So we got Z a girl with lots of attitude, add prince Dante and we have a thing called disaster at first site. From the start of the book both characters fight each other in some way (notice I say more than one, eh eh.) Until finally a nice little romance brews between them. For the first time in the series leaves you at a dreaded thing called a cliff hanger. Of course that means we get to read more about Z and Dante. </span><br /><span style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 16px; font-weight: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Free Falling never has a dull moment. When things appeared quiet, well they didn’t stay that way for long. We got some lovely descriptions of the battles/fights nice a goo filled. The battle finally starts and that’s all I have to say.</span></b>
