Exquisite Breath of Darkness

Title: Exquisite Breath of Darkness
Author: Candice Stauffer
Page count: 297
Genre: Paranormal Romance, dragons, vampires
My rating: 5/5
Publisher: ~~~~
Published: July 16th 2012
Summary:Being a nearly invincible immortal warrior, Joseph Payne had never paid attention to time, but now time consumes his every thought because he is running out of it.
Fate is about to rip Mia Harte, the only woman he will ever love, out of his arms because she belongs to Eli Thomas, the relentless alpha male of one of the strongest lycan packs in the Pacific Northwest.

My Thoughts:
This book... I mean, wow. At some points I was laughing to the point of tears. From the first page/chapter I was pulled in. The start is comical showing us what the two main characters relationship from the start was. Mia and Joseph have to be my favorite characters with the dark Dmitri coming coming close. (Hope I spelled his name right.) This is an excellent book to read. ;)

The Review:
First off if you loved Sweet, Decadent Fire or Eternal Breath of Darkness then you will love this one even more. Joseph is the the man that needs to be taught a lesson with his facebook hacking skills that we get to see his facebook hacking skills. The jokes would always pop up randomly and it wasn’t too often that it got old. [Just the right amount] We get to see how Mia learns of her true self and how she reacts to Joseph.
There really wasn’t one main conflict in this novel, more like multiple small ones. With Eli, Mia’s ‘mate’, crazy vampires, and demons gone mad, we get the experience of WHOOSH IN YOUR FACE. Face paced and plenty of sexy demons, this is a book you need to read if you love this genre.

Prince in the Mist

Title: Prince in the Mist
Author: Claudy Conn
Page count: 95
Genre: Paranormal Romance, Fae,
My rating: 5/5
Publisher: ~~~~~
Published: November 11, 2011
Summary: Fact one: By tradition and treaty, Fae do not interfere with the human world—it is against the rules. Fact two: For a Royal Fae prince who suffers from the ennui of immortality, watching and interacting with humans—especially lovely, spirited human females—can be entertaining. Fact three: When entertainment changes to affection, and affection becomes love, rules will be broken.
His name is Breslyn, Prince of Dagda of the Tuatha Dé. He is a royal Fae, immortal and endowed with more than eye candy looks. He is a being with immeasurable powers but life for him lacked something—so he looked around, and found...humans.
Watching their lives and interactions, from another dimension filled him with feelings he had thought long lost in the ennui of immortality. The more he watched--the more addicted to their antics he became. An affection for the human race grew inside the heart Fae are not supposed to have, and it was inevitable that he began to have preferences with regards to them.
In 1314, when Scotland’s rule was in jeopardy and the British were about to take more than they should, he chose a side--and then he saw her, and nothing would ever be the same for the prince ever again…

My thoughts: The first word I saw when I started to read this was, Breslyn. He has always been a favorite character of mine, so this story was an excellent read. Even the side characters had a deep story that pulled me in.

The Review:
We have Breslyn the Fae prince, and we get to meet his first human love. Going more into his head we get to see the wickedness of him to. Chartelle is the female, or Breslyn’s  female in this story. She’s the human who bring out the other personality in him. Then Claudy was able to have the secondary characters merge and create  a story. Alexis and Storm both see each other once and the hidden secrets make them weary of the other. Their story is love at first site. Their fire lit up the book even as they argued with the other, until finally their fire turns into a passion of love.
This short romance is a wonderful development of our princes earlier life that we don’t get to know in the longer novels of this series. By the end of the book I was in a emotion filled pit.

Rogues, Rakes & Jewels

Title: Rogues, Rakes & Jewels
Author: Claudy Conn
Page count: 224
Genre: romance
My rating: 5/5
Publisher: Amazon Digital Services, Inc.
Published: 2012
Summary:The Marquis of Lyndhurst is tired of women who are more attracted to his title and money than to his charms. So when his mother requests that he go to the Isle of Wight to court another eligible woman, Ryker decides on a little game … his cousin Robby will pose as him, and he will pose as his cousin—a rake and a gambler. If the woman falls in love with him, it will be for himself. Only then will he reveal who he is.
What the marquis doesn’t expect, however, is someone like Jewelene. Lovely and provocative, intelligent and headstrong, Jewels cares not for status and wealth. Ryker finds her irresistible, and she finds herself falling for the handsome man she believes to be the marquis’ cousin.
But Jewelene is playing a game of her own. In a daring bid to repay her family’s debts, each night she poses as Babette, the French card dealer. When Ryker begins flirting with the sultry Babette, Jewelene realizes she has become her own rival. If she reveals the truth, will her house of cards come tumbling down?

The Review:
So I purchased this book from amazon, and on the kindle parents are how you know how far in you are.  Rogues, Rakes & Jewels ends around 60%, so this really is a quick read to pick up late one night.  From the first sentence of this novel I was pulled in, and I hope you will too.
Once again Claudy Conn gives us a romance of two characters that are complete opposites. Jewelene is the strong female character in this story. Her characters as quick, witty, and genius. Ready to ruin her image she earns money to help her family get through their tough spot. We have the Marquis of Lyndhurst, Ryker, who deceives most of the characters throughout the book because he wants to find ‘true love’. Both character had their faults, but together they pulled through to create a happy ending.
Then we finally have the bad guy, who I declare, cannot be named. He was one that would make you wince at his tactics, and shout when he was forced back by  Ryker.
A sizzling romance that will leave you satisfied can be found on amazon and smashwords. Be sure to check it out and if you like it leave a review.

Werewolf Bound

Title: Werewolf Bound
Author: MaryLynn Bast
Page count: 113
Genre: Paranormal romance
My rating: 5/5
Publisher: Werewolf Tails Publishing
Published: July 3rd, 2012
Summary:Adam Channing knows the rules…during the Full Moon Phase— DON’T GO IN THE WOODS.
Yet, he can’t ignore the call of a young female werewolf Patricia DuFur. He knows it’s against pack rules, but can’t resist the temptation and faces the consequences when her three brothers attack and leave him to die.
With Blake as a friend, he is well on his way to learning the ways of being a werewolf. Adams is constantly in a state of change when he receives the gift of “Seer”. His life takes on a whole new meaning out in the forest.

My thoughts:
I love how you can read these books out of order. It makes it much easier when you have random books. I do like the writing style of the book and Adam’s story was a awesome read. His personality was bright and he looked up even when things were going down. That made it easy to connect with the character and LOVE him.

The Review:
The setting; Werewolf Bound mainly stays in one location throughout the story, and only switches location near the end. Keeping it in one location made is less confusing to read and being a shorter read that is important.
The characters: Adam - A cheery person, we finally get to see what he was like from the little we saw him in the other books. It was also nice seeing more of him and understanding him better. Blake- The character who sends off mixed vibes and sent me from hating him one moment to loving him the next. He drove me nuts.
So the way she throughs characters together in the werewolf concept make it unique and to my liking. The way that wolves treat females is enough to want them to all die. (I’m nice)
Will I read the others? Yes, I will.

Myriah Fire

Title: Myriah Fire
Author: Claudy Conn
word count: 61955
Genre: historical romance
My rating: 5/5
Publisher: ~~~
Published: smashwords
summary: It started with a stolen kiss …
Fiery Myriah Whitney is wild of nature, contrary, and independent. But when her father catches her kissing the handsome Sir Roland (how else is she to determine if he is the one who will make her feel thunder and lightning, hear bells and music?), he declares that her days of headstrong independence are over. She will, he commands, announce her engagement to Sir Roland—immediately.
But in an age where marriages are about alliances rather than affection, practicality not passion, Myriah wants more—she wants to fall in love. And she does not love Sir Roland. So she runs away to her grandfather with her faithful manservant, Tabson, at her side.
A wrong turn in the fog, however, leads to the discovery of an injured young man, and before she knows it Myriah is caught up in world of intrigue and secrets. And when she meets the young man’s older brother, the mysterious Lord Kit Wimborne, the sparks fly. Their first encounter—in his bed, both of them naked, no less!—is an explosion of wills, and it is what finally set Myriah on fire.
She has, it seems, finally found her thunder and lightning…

The Review:
Another brilliant romance by Claudy. Everything she write blows me away... Just had to add that. And the cover isn't it just pretty?

Myriah is the female main character of this story. She, like other females in the time, puts up with the views of females in this time. Her fiery character was enough to pull me in and her loyal sidekick Tabson made quite a pair. We have Kit. The male character of the story with his dark, or not so dark secret. Together the characters create a drama worth reading. Kit doesn’t quite trust her for most of the book and Myriah just tries to do what’s right.
One of the things about reading historical books is the details used for description and placing things. Details like that are good for history nuts and freaks, like I. (Not a complete history buff.)
The story is a charming romance that makes you want everything to work out. The surprising ending will not be anything you see coming. Hints although are everywhere, both misleading and guiding. It was a excellent way to add a twist to the story.
What I’m saying basically is to go get a copy and check it out. If you’ve read Claudy Conn’s other books then you’ll love this one, and if you haven’t... Go check it out and be pulled into her world of writing. (Brainwashing Complete.)

Knight's End Blog Tour Day One

Author Bio

My name is Jami Montgomery, and I am a twenty-two-year-old writer from South Texas. I write anything and everything you can imagine, from urban fantasy to historical romances to sci-fi (though not all that well, I should add).
Knight's End is the first book I've ever tried to self-publish on a large scale, and I am both nervous and excited. Thank you for joining me on this journey.

Sometimes choosing between love and family means choosing between life and death.
Aston Smith, Knight of Fridel, has been sent on a dangerous mission: catch The Rogue Royal, a notorious man who has been killing corrupt monarchs. When the mission goes wrong, the knight is sentenced to death. To escape his fate, he runs, planning to track down the murderer and clear his name.
Along the way, he meets and teams up with Jade du Halen, who he thinks is just another woman. Secretly, she is the runaway princess of Adion who denied her duties as a princess and refused to marry the man her father had chosen for her. Instead, she convinces Aston that she can clear his name, joining him on his hunt for justice.
Can these two individuals hide from their hunters, catch The Rogue Royal, and live happily ever after? Or will Jade’s secret tear them apart?
In a story told from the perspectives of five individuals, lives are changed forever, reputations are destroyed, love is found and lost, and betrayal is never far behind.

Here’s a peek into Knight’s End.
Excerpt One
Aston leaned over the wall. Talbot was two thirds of the way up, moving sluggishly, struggling to find his footing. “Prince Talbot! I’m going ahead. Stay close, and hurry! We don’t know how far ahead of us the Rogue is,” he shouted, knowing no one was around to hear him. He ran along the walkway until he got to a set of stairs, taking them three at a time to get into the palace. He heard the prince clomping along behind him.
All the torches were snuffed out in the hallway he entered. Aston stopped and listened, trying to locate someone, but he couldn’t hear anything. It was late, but there should have been guards patrolling every inch of the palace. The duke’s life had been threatened.
He could feel his throat constricting as he crept close to the wall and started down the hallway, more alert now than he had been before. This wasn’t his first mission, but it was the first time he’d been ordered to save a man’s life. Normally, he was sent to battles or as a messenger. This mission had a completely different feel, and something deep inside told him he was already too late.
The wide corridor forked off in two directions at the end. The left side was dark, the right lit. Aston headed left, knowing The Rogue Royal would be somewhere in the darkened corridors. He paused at the end of the second hallway, listening again. Something rammed into his back and he turned quickly, pulling a dagger from his belt and crouching down.

Task Force: Gaea -- Finding Balance

Title: Task Force: Gaea -- Finding Balance
Author: David Berger
Word count: 111334
Genre: Fiction » Fantasy » Epic (As says smashwords)
My rating: 4/5
Publisher: ~~~~~
Published: Smashwords
Summary:During the age of Olympos, when a vengeful goddess shatters the Sacred Scales, both immortals and humans alike suffer. Apollo, the god of truth, goes from a glorious existence as The Shining One to a victim of Zeus’ wrath, and his journey makes him question his godhood, his role in the cosmos, and his views on humanity. Prophecy and the Fates direct his course, and he must make difficult, yet vital, choices. Millennia pass, and Dan, Aleta, Brandon, and Sarah—four reluctant modern-day heroes gifted by ancient civilizations born of the gods—bound by prophecy, have to choose whether or not to save their world when it could mean they never existed. They must master their new powers while battling against incomprehensible forces from the Underworld and repairing the Sacred Scales, destroyed long ago. With the equilibrium between Order and Chaos unhinged, and the Olympian gods struggling to exist, these four must ally themselves with the United Nations to protect an endangered world, becoming the only group who can fight against metaphysical threats to the Earth, forging Task Force: Gaea. Can mortals succeed where gods cannot go?

The Review:
(So when I write/you read this it might seem a little rumbled up to you, so I’ll try my best to organize it to your understanding. If it’s a problem I can rewrite it!)

The first Part is Apollo’s story, in only Apollos view really. At the first it was a little confusing reading from his point since it was more describing then showing. Instead of seeing much of the surrounding we saw and heard what Apollo saw and thought. This was a good set up to get the reader into the story and wonder how balance will be found again. And it ends just on the point of driving the reader mad.
The second part: We’re introduced to the characters of the prophecy. This is when it stops being descriptive and we see the characters and their thought patterns more. Each character acquires a gift or a certain power in some way. Their stories behind them were what i found most fascinating about the books. Each individual character was given a good in depth personality and we see apollo from a different point of view.
The book like all book would drag at points, but isn’t that normal? Well it didn't drag very much since it was smoothly pushed into another scene or event or action/fight. SOme scenes would end rather abrupt and it felt like they had lost some of their meaning.
Overall it was a good read and the artwork at the end was a surprise.
